An improved process for the isomerization of non-equilibrium C8 aromatics is presented which utilizes a novel catalytic composition. This catalyst comprises a Group VIII metal component, a bismuth component, and crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a silica to alumina ratio of at least 12. This isomerization process has a particular utility for the conversion of ethylbenzene without the deleterious loss of xylene.
