<p>PURPOSE:To detect the number of residual sheets without elevating paper sheets uselessly and with a small error by providing control means for displaying a designated number of sheets on a display portion when a detection signal is output from position detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When the number of sheets fed by a paper feed portion 13 amounts to the number of sheets designated by a designated number input key, a control device computes the rising amount of an elevating plate 14 corresponding to pulses input heretofore and outputs a driving signal to a switch driving motor 25 to move a residual quantity switch 21 to a position separate from a paper feed position by a distance l equal to the above rising amount. After that, though the number of pulses is not input by the control device 30, the drive for raising the elevating plate 14 with paper feeding is continued. When the elevating plate 14 is thus further lifted up so that a detecting plate 22 fixed to the end portion thereof reaches a position between both elements of the residual quantity detecting switch 21 to turn on the switch 21, the control device outputs data of a memory and displays the designated number of sheets on a residual number display portion.</p> |
