In the jacking of an, in particular tubular, construction body of reinforced concrete, for example, through an earth dam or the like, the construction body is covered at the top side and if need be at the side faces by narrow, adjacent cutter strips (20) extending over its entire length in the driving direction. The cutter strips (20) are driven individually one after the other by means of separate driving jacks (23). The soil is excavated at the working face in the protection of the cutter strips (20) and then the construction body is advanced relative to the cutter strips (20). The cutter strips (20) are designed as compression members of precast reinforced-concrete parts, and the driving jacks (23) are arranged at the rear ends of the cutter strips and are supported relative to the construction body. During the jacking, the compression members sustain elastic upsetting which, after the removal of the jacking force, produces elastic breathing and thus in turn permits elastic breathing of the soil. This enables any displacements of the surrounding earth, in particular of an existing earth dam, to be prevented or completely avoided. <IMAGE>
