PURPOSE:To obtain a material to be recorded for ink jet recording improved in the absorption of hydrogen ink and imparting an image of high resolving power by coating base paper consisting of a fibrous substance and a filler with a water-based resin composition to respectively set the content of an internal size agent and that of a filler in a surface layer to defenite ranges in order to restrict volume resistivity. CONSTITUTION:The relation between the content R% of an internal size agent and the content A% of a filler in a surface layer is set to 0.6A + 10% > 6 and volume resistivity is set to 1 - 10<11>OMEGA-cm or less (20 deg.C, 65% RH). For example, talc, a rosin size agent and aluminum sulfate are compounded with bleached Kraft pulp to prepare base paper containing 12.9% of the filler and 0.81% of the sizing agent. A cationic resin and an aqueous polyvinyl alcohol solution are applied to the base paper to obtain a material to be recorded having a Stoeckigt sizing degree of 29sec and volume resistivity of 1.15 X10<10>OMEGA-cm. When printing is applied to this material using hydrogen ink with moisture content of 70% or more, an edge becomes sharp and no feathering is generated. |
