摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the optical recording medium having high CN and low error rate in a wide range of recording laser output and high preservable stability by subjecting the optical recording medium having 3-layered constitution provided with thin films of a passive state forming metal on both surfaces of the recording layer essentially consisting of Sn to a heating treatment. CONSTITUTION:The thin layer consisting of the oxide of a thin film material essentially consisting of the passive state forming metal on the surface and Sn is formed on the surface of the recording layer provided with the thin films 2 of the passive state forming metal on both surfaces of the layer 3 consisting of the thin film essentially consisting of the Sn when this recording layer is heated in air. This oxide layer plays the role of trimming bit shapes at the time of forming pits, thereby preventing more than the necessary expansion of the pits even if the energy of the laser applied on the recording layer for the purpose of recording is excessive. The pits having the uniform shapes on the periphery are thus formed. The degradation in the CN when the recording laser output is excessive and the influence of the formed pits on a tracking servo system are decreased.
