PURPOSE:To improve barrier properties, mechanical properties, weatherability, luster and heat resistance and to make the film useful as packaging materials by controlling an oxygen permeability const., a breaking strength and a breaking elongation each in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A film of polyacrylonitrile with an oxygen permeability const. of 3X10<-14>cm<3>.cm/cm<2>.sec.cm.Hg or smaller, a breaking strength of 5kg/mm<2> or smaller, a breaking elongation of 10% or larger, a thickness of 0.5-500mum and a wt.-average MW of 500,000 or larger is obtd. by polymerizing acrylonitrile in a solvent consisting of dimethylacetamide and water in the presence of an initiator to prepare a dope and making it into a film by casting. |
