SUBSTITUTED IMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES AND THEIR PREPARATION AND USE Compounds of the formula: (I) wherein X is -CH2- or R1 is H, C1-5-alkyl or benzyl, which can be substituted or unsubstituted R2 is H, C1-4-alkyl, OH or C1-3-alkoxy R3 is H, CH3, CH2CH3, OCH3 or Hal R4 is H, CH3, CH2CH3, OCH3 or Hal and Hal is halogen and non-toxic acid addition salts and mixtures thereof are highly selective antagonists at postsynaptic .alpha.2-adrenocepeors, and are especlally useful in the treatment of diabetes.
