Package and top label for attachment to the end face of a package

Vacuum packages made of a composite film serve for receiving, in particular, consumables which are sensitive in terms of aroma, for example roast coffee. The package consists of a film tube with a transversely directed closure seam formed by welding the film in the region of a fin fold whose triangular fold gussets are folded inwards against the end face of a block of coffee and are covered by a stuck-on top label (18). To open the package, at least one of the fold gussets (13) has to be lifted up, it having previously been necessary for the top label all around this fold gusset to be destroyed. For this purpose, the user usually has to use a tool. It is proposed to design the top label (18) as a self-adhesive label and to provide it with a non-adhesive gripping section (19) so that, when the top label (18) is lifted up, its adhesive layer (21) is detached from all the parts of the vacuum package apart from the uppermost fold gusset (13) which can thus be lifted up together with the top label (18). <IMAGE>
