A filling machine is to be produced, in the case of which actuation of the actual valve gate can be carried out independently of the conductivity of the liquid to be poured in and physical conditions are exploited which permit determination of the level of liquid in an especially precise fashion. It is proposed in order to achieve this that it be possible to determine the quantity of liquid to be poured in and/or the filling level via the different thermal conductivities of the surrounding gas situated in the container and/or filling nozzle and the liquid to be poured in.
