PURPOSE:To perform a fail safe control detecting a lockup clutch system for its mechanical trouble by providing a means obtaining a difference between an engine speed and a transmission input speed and a means deciding a lockup clutch for its operating condition. CONSTITUTION:Signals of an input speed sensor 1 in an electronically controlled automatic transmission and of an engine speed sensor 3 are input to an electronic control unit 6 and compared in a microcomputer 12, when both the speed signals are equal, the transmission is judged normal. During an output of an operating signal of an L-up clutch to a lockup(L-up) solenoid 22 from the unit 6, when no agreement is generated between both the speeds, a mechanism is judged and detected for its trouble, and a fail safe control can be performed by turning off the solenoid 22. |
