The present invention provides a pantograph emergency lowering system comprising a pantograph mountable to a rail vehicle having a pantograph head assembly comprising a pneumatic overhead contact carbon assembly supplied by an air supply for contacting a catenary to supply current to the rail vehicle, a pneumatic mechanical cam assembly mountable to a lower arm of the pantograph to control movement of the pantograph between a raised and a lowered position and a self-monitoring pneumatic regulation system comprising a pneumatic circuit for measuring and controlling variations in air pressures sustaining the pantographs operational movements and initiating a safety response upon detection of an unsafe variation to control movement of the pantograph to the lowered position. -400 |
