The invention relates to an improvement of the main application P 3820187.9 "removal of hydrogen from a post-accident atmosphere of a nuclear power station", in that the devices according to this additional application, in the case of significant deformations or damage of the mesh-like wall material, interrupt the current supply for the ignition sparks and/or for the heating of the hot surfaces. This is achieved by means of a further cage of mesh-like wall material which is additionally mounted inside the mesh-like wall material according to the main application. Both mesh-like wall materials are insulated electrically from each other. A contact between them interrupts the current supply for the H2-ignition. In this case, electric intrinsic safety is used for preventing sparks, and gravitation is used for ensuring the interruption of the current. Furthermore, the heat of the mesh-like wall material, on which cooling conduits are mounted, is led away by a medium flowing through the latter considerably better than by means of atmospheric convection. For the further improvement of the removal of heat from the mesh-like wall material, heat pipes can also be used which have already been tried and tested in electronic installations.
