PURPOSE:To obtain the workrest of long life by making a through hole with circular cross section at the center of a block material, lapping the hole, cutting the material in the direction of a plane separating minute length from and parallel with the axis of the hole, and applying electric deposition of hard diamond particles on the semicircular groove on the base which is made by the cutting. CONSTITUTION:A through hole 19 is formed at the central portion of a material 18 made of cemented carbide by electric discharge machining or laser beam machining and the inner surface is lapped. The material 18 is divided in the direction of an imaginary plane 20 separating minute length from and parallel with an axis 19a and an unnecessary part is removed. Then, the flat surface of the face 21 formed by the dividing is finished and an insulating agent 22 is applied to the portion except the groove section 13 of a cemented carbide base 12. And the removal of the insulating agent 22 after applying electric deposition of diamond particles 14 on the inside surface of the groove section 13 leads to the completion of a workrest. The workrest thus produced is, therefore, further little in the wear of the groove section 13 and long in life in comparison with conventional ones. |
