Method and apparatus for producing an end profile

A method for producing an end profile on a workpiece with a tool provides for the tool to be guided, by its tool surface shaped in accordance with that of the end profile, along a surface of the workpiece to be provided with the end profile. The workpiece is firmly clamped with respect to the tool. The surface of the tool is aligned with respect to the surface of the workpiece to be worked. The workpiece is first deflected and subsequently provided with the end profile, or then provided with a mitre into which the end profile is worked. The corresponding apparatus provides for the workpiece to be firmly clamped on a workpiece carrier, with respect to whose workpiece axis a tool slide is pivotably mounted. The tool is arranged on the tool slide so as to be movable in the direction of the surface to be worked. The tool on the tool slide is mounted so as to be displaceable in the vertical direction transversely to a supporting surface on which the workpiece which is clamped to the tool carrier lies. The workpiece is centred with respect to a vertically extending workpiece axis of the workpiece which is clamped on the workpiece carrier. The workpiece is clamped on the workpiece carrier by at least one quick-clamping device.
