PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of chatter marks by specifying the ratio of the diameter of a deflector roll and the diameter of a work roll on at least one unit out of three units from entrance side of a roll unit and minimizing the distance between deflector rolls. CONSTITUTION:In plural roll units arranged on a line, at least one unit out of three units from the entrance side, for instance, a unit roll consisting of large diameter deflector rolls 44, 45 and a small diameter work roll 46 is so constituted that D/d=2.0-4.0 where D represents the diameter of large diameter deflector rolls 44, 45 and (d) represents the diameter of small diameter work roll 46. If l1, l2 represent distances between deflector rolls 44, 45 and work roll 46, l1+l2=D+l3, and l3 is a minimum distance of 5-10mm.. By this way, the occurrence of chatter marks can be prevented. |
