A power-driven hand tool used to perform specific jobs is proposed. The hand tool, which may particularly be in the form of a drilling machine, electric screwdriver or the like, comprises a two-pole electric drive motor which is drivingly connected to a driven element holding the working tool, the drive motor having permanent magnets which are connected to one another via a ferromagnetic return, as well as a commutator which is connected to a motor armature and on which, with reference to the axis of rotation of the commutator, two mutually opposite brushes are arranged. A particularly simple and inexpensive two-speed hand tool of this type results when the drive motor has a third brush which is of the same polarity as one of the other two brushes, when furthermore this third brush encloses an angle alpha of less than 180 degrees with the brush of different polarity and this third brush can selectively be cut into the working circuit of the drive motor instead of the brush of the same polarity as said third brush. <IMAGE>
