PURPOSE:To improve the gradation using a screen by providing an auxiliary light source by which an approximately even light is emitted toward the screen, in the vertical direction to the traveling direction on the opposite side of a photosensitive body in relation to the screen. CONSTITUTION:The auxiliary light source 10 from which light is emitted toward the screen approximately evenly in the direction vertical to the traveling direction, is provided on the opposite side of the photosensitive body 25 in relation to the screen 26. By having the screen 26 involved, the light from the exposing means in response to an original image is only transmitted through a transmitting range of the screen 26 and is allowed to irradiate the photosensitive body 25, the light shielded range part of the screen 26 is shielded from the light, a shadow corresponding to the light shielded range is formed on the photosensitive body, and the size of the shadow is changed in approximate reverse proportion to the light quantity from the exposing means. Thus the gradation of the electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive body can be improved. |
