PURPOSE:To form successively recording part in proper positions of a medium even when the medium suffers from damage or contamination by constituting the information recording area having no prior recording patterns in a manner that the recording area has higher reflectivity than nonrecording area. CONSTITUTION:No prior recording pattern is provided in the information recording area 32 when the recording tracks are formed. This recording area 32 is composed of a vapor deposition film 41 of Sb2Se3 and a vapor deposition film 42 of Bi2Te3, with each thickness determined so that in nonrecording area, the light reflected by the interface of the deposition film 41 and the deposition film 42 compensates with the light reflected by the interface of the deposition film 42 and the protective film 43 when light for reading is made incident through the substrate 31. Thereby, the reflectivity in the nonrecording area is made rather low. On the other hand, in the recording area, the light for reading made incident through the substrate 31 is only reflected, so that the reflectivity in the recording area is rather high. Therefore, even if there are damages or contamination, the recording area of the information recording area 32 can be accurately detected. |
