Pedal-operated vacuum brake booster

A pneumatic vacuum brake booster (2) is demonstrated, which is suitable for a hydraulic antilock brake system. The booster (2) contains a modulator (3), the modulator wall (14) of which is supported by way of a tappet (19) on the master cylinder and bears on an inner housing (12). On actuation of the brake valve (26), air flows into the chamber (33) and hence into the booster chamber (21), as a result of which the booster wall (13) is displaced on to the master cylinder (1). The force reacting on the pedal is generated by a rubber disc (35), which is supported on the inner housing by way of a piston (37). In order to control the pressure in the brake master cylinder, the valves (51, 52) are reversed, thereby generating a force pressing back on the booster wall (13). The pressure in the master cylinder is now determined by the quantity of air which is introduced into the modulator chamber (15) by means of the valve (17). <IMAGE>
