The socket has an insulating block (11) incorporating an insertion hole (13) for the connector pin, the inserted pin contacting a number of contact elements and altering the state of an incorporated switch with fixed and movable switch contacts. The insulating block (11) has a switch housing section (21) at the rear side of the block (11) adjacent the connector pin insertion hole (13) parallel to the latter. The partition wall (20) between the insertion hole (13) and the switch housing section incorporates a cam element acted on by the contact pin to displace the movable switch contact.
