The print master has a conducting, metal support base (2) coated with a hydrophilic layer (3). The print pattern is applied via an insulating material (4) which retains colour/ink and which has a finite thickness. the base and the hydrophilic layer can be re-used after cleaning. The print layer can be a simple toner pattern applied electrostatically and fixed. The toner is insulating and retains ink/printing paint. The patter is applied by pressure, by ink jet writing or other means. The hydrophilic layer can be a tetrafluoroethylene type plastics material or a ceramic. ADVANTAGE - Simple print master process; re-usable substrate.
