Load-lifting cable mechanism - has parallel rope pulley shafts travelling on sides of obtuse-angle triangular guide member

The mechanism moves loads inthe vertical direction. It has two or more pulleys fixed to shafts spaced apart, and round which a rop is reeved. A load is suspended from one of the rope. The parallel shaft (5,6) travel to and fro on the sides (2,3) of a guide member in the shape of an obtuse-angled scalene triangle, whose upper side (2) is at a smaller angle to the horizontal than the lower one (3). On the guide member is a guide pulley (4) in a fixed position and round which the rope (8) is reeved, its other end being attached to the shaft (5) supported on the upper side of the member. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple arrangement of rope and pulleys is easy to operate and utilises potential energy of load to be lifted.
