A chain comprising alternating pairs of inner side bars and outer side bars. The inner side bars being provided with barrel portions secured thereto. The outer side bars having cylindrical studs which rotatably engage with bores through the barrel portions of the inner side bars. The chain is suitable for use in high load applications and the links may be formed of a plastics composite material.
