Water turbines are driven with pref. asynchronous electrical generators which feed energy to the mains to an extent dependent upon the turbine drop height and the momentary counter pressure as the hollow formation is filled. The electrical energy is used as priority dictates, but pref. drives heat pumps, delivering energy from the dropped water in the hollow formation, heat being supplied to an existing remote heating network. At night, the turbines act as pumps, pumping the water back, the generators functioning as electric motors and at the same time being used to drive the heat pumps.
|
