Device for manufacturing small wire baskets for securing cork stoppers, especially for bottles of sparkling wine, based on prefabricated wire stirrups, which consists of four sections of wire to which a circular shape is given, from which circle emerge horizontally four twisted legs, in which, around four chain wheels arranged vertically with respect to one another in pairs, runs a chain with shaping tools fixed to it. The shaping tools have cutting edges, protuberances and an inner cone. The shaping tools are able to actuate, in steps, three cores, the first having, in a given case, cutters, the second having notches which act in combination with the protuberances of the shaping tool to form hooks at the ends of the legs, and the third having a pressure surface which pushes the central circle of the wire stirrup into the cone and thereby forms the small basket.
