Integrated production unit for powder-coated flat parts, esp. sheet metal, has the novelty of: (a) a loading station in which the sheet metal parts (2) are de-stacked and placed on a transporter (3); (b) a pretreatment station (4) with a cleaning stage (5) having one or more mechanical means (6) for removing liquid, oil, fat, dirt, etc., and one or more washing or flushing units, and (c) further stations for drying (9), cooling (13), powder coating (15), climatic control of temp. and air (17), drying and hardening of the coating using radiation or convection (18), drying (19) and finally delivery (20) of the coated product to a stacking unit. Certain coating stations (21,25) are fitted with removable exchangeable compartments and are positioned either side of a fixed intermediary station (26). This station has flexible air lines (34) to facilitate decoupling of the removable station compartments. In a variation, the material to be coated is in coil form an is cut into the required metal sheets in a stamping press before being fed to the loading station. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for the production of e.g., equipment and body work, the unit produces an economic, high quality coated product using a compact, integrated production process which lends itself to automation.
