The analysis of sounds articulated by synchronisation is carried out, with the initiation of pulses or vibrations of the glottis produced during the voicing of phonemes, of a transformed function independent of the pitch (tone) which effects the analysis totally within a pitch period. The analysis of the three most dominant shaping frequencies of the series of sounds involved in the enunciation of voiced phonemes is effected. The peaks of the transformed function represent shaping frequencies. Three frequencies of the transformed function which identify the frequencies with the first, second or third maximum amplitudes are selected. The correlation of the shape of the wave between successive pitch periods detects whether a sound is a vowel, a sibilant voiced sound or a non-voiced sound.
