PURPOSE: To prevent the corrosion of a shift link device by rotatably supporting a driving shaft drivingly connected to a propeller through a clutch mechanism by a gimbal housing mounted on the transom of a boat. CONSTITUTION: A stern driving device 10 is rotatably supported by a gimbal housing 34 placed on the transom 22 of a hull, and the output from an internal combustion engine 12 is transferred to a propeller 140 through a driving shaft 152, a clutch mechanism within an upper gear housing 98 and a vertical driving shaft to rotate it. This gear housing 98 is water-tightly mounted on a pivotal housing 66 by a stud 99, and when the connection of the gear housing 98 is released, a shift link device 276 is operated, and the control shaft 238 of a clutch device is rotated to release the clutch. A watertight chamber including the shift link device is constituted in this way, whereby the corrosion of the shift link device can be substantially prevented. |
