This method of putting static-bed pressure gasification reactors into operation includes both the igniting procedure (from cold) and the starting of an already-lighted reactor. The igniting and starting gasification mediumm is varied in composition while the reactor is being put into operation. At first, the composition of this mixture is adjusted so that a steady temp. rise in the reactor is possible without an explosive gas mixture being able to form. Next, after the charged reactor and crude-gas passages have been inerted, the method includes treating the system with steam in the ignition process, or with N2 or CO2 in the starting process. A number of variants are claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for starting operation from cold or otherwise of coal pressure-gasification reactors in a more economical and environment- friendly way than hitherto, with, in partic. freedom and harmful emissions.
