A motor vehicle, which has to be lifted onto a larger vehicle, is attached to the hook of the lifting crane by means of a sling which is fastened to each of its four wheels (1). The wheel attachment device (2) has a main part in the shape of an inverted Y with the ends (8) of the arms of the Y bent at right angles and project horizontally. These bent ends are parallel to each other and fit under the tyre (10). A cable, chain or other flexible element is attached to each end, and is then passed behind and around the wheel and through hooks attached to a support (3) fitted over the top of tyre. The ends of these cables are then attached to tubes (5) which fit telescopically over the vertical part of the Y frame. A bracket (18) attached to the tubes is then fastened to the lifting sling by a loop of wire (16). USE - Lifting a broken down motor vehicle.
