Joint for folding ladder - has swivel legs with ratchet disc and stop to control pivoting

The joint has swivel legs round a common axis. On a leg is fitted with a slotted ratchet disc and the other with a stop which adjusts lengthways and homes into the ratchet slots. A pivotal trip, lever fitted to the second leg forms part of the stop movement control to drive this home into the slot and retract it clear in two end settings. A control disc (16) forming part of the movement control should pivot round the joint axis and has a guiding slot for the stop (14) and has a strke face (31) for an opposed face (29) on the stop. When the stop face (29) thrusts against the slot face (31) the disc (16) cannot move and in this way locks the stop firmly in the ratchet (11) slot (12). USE/ADVANTAGE - Mutli-purpose folding ladders. Lock is held firmly in selected position using ratchet slot and stop in a guided slot thus ensuring ladder safety.
