发明名称 Prepn. of 4-O-beta-D-galacto-pyranosyl-D-glucitol - sugar substitutes by continuous hydrogenation of lactose
摘要 Prepn of 4-0-beta-D-galactopyranosyl-D-glucitol (I) comprises continuous hydrogenation of 4-0-beta-D-galactopyranosyl -alpha-D-glucopyranose (lactose) (II) in aq soln at 60-120 deg C and a H2 pressure of 150-500 bar in a fixed bed process. The reaction takes place in a reaction zone over a carrier-free hydrogenation catalyst in the form of a shaped material with a pressure resistance of not more than 50N (esp 100-400N). The sahped material has an inner surface area of 10-90 m2/g and consists of gp 8 transition elements. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is not broken down as a carbohydrate in humans and is not hydrolysed or absorbed in the small intestine. It is thus useful as a sugar substitute for diabetics. It is also less cariogenic than sucrose. (I) are non-toxic and are useful in the prepn of sugar free confectionery, and foods of low nutrional value. (I) may be prepd in good yields by this method and tedious sepn of a catalyst is not necessary.
