Method of vitrefying fly ash from incinerators consists of heating the ash to its mpt at 1150-1450 deg C, heating up to 2000 deg C to convert the harmful prods into a plasma followed by quenching to room temp in order to pulverise the material and produce grains which are suitable for casting. ADVANTAGE - The ash is converted into an insoluble vitrified material which remains stable over a long period of time thereby enabling its easy disposal or storage before further use. The grains of ash are increased in size to prevent easy dissipation in the air or in the ground.
