<p>PURPOSE:To select an operation of the subject device during a period until recording is resumed after stopping recording in response to a using state of the device by providing a mode for stopping/starting carriage with a carrier means and a mode for starting recording with a recording means. CONSTITUTION:The subject device possesses a system controller 11 and an operating part 13, and is provided with the 1st mode for stopping/starting carriage with the carrier means and the 2nd mode for starting recording with the recording means. Consequently, when recording is desired to be stopped for a short period of time, the 1st mode is used so that the time for starting recording after stopping it can be made extremely short. Then, when recording is desired to be stopped over a long period of time, the 2nd mode is used so that the rotation of a rotary head 3, etc., can once be stopped. By this method, the operation of the device before starting recording after stopping it can be selected in response to the using state of the device, and hence the best operation can be performed in accordance with the using state of the device.</p> |
