PURPOSE: To improve steering feeling by mounting a means of applying preload torque resistance to a coupling connecting two parts comprising a steering column so as to inhibit the transmission of rotational backlash through the steering column. CONSTITUTION: This steering column is provided with an inner shaft 3 connected to a steering rack at its lower part, and an outer tube 4 where a steering handle is mounted at the top thereof, and both of 3 and 4 are connected through a coupling 6. The coupling 6 is comprised of a plastic sleeve 11 whose cross section matches that of a shaft 3 and is tightly-fitted slidably around the shaft 3 when preload torque resistance is applied to inhibit the transmission of rotational backlash through a steering column, a rubber tensile bush 12 which surrounds the sleeve 11 and connected thereto, and an outer sleeve 13 connected with both the rubber bush 12 and the tube 4. |
