OPTICAL MULTIPLEX CIRCUIT

PURPOSE:To reduce number of components by bringing a speed of an optical pulse into a high speed of a multiple of K and applying serial modulation to the pulse. CONSTITUTION:Input data D1-Dk whose bit rate is V are fed sequentially and an ultrashort optical pulse whose pulse width is (t) and whose period is 1/V to an optical pulse modulator 8, then a modulated optical pulse train P1 is fed to a 1X2 optical switch 9 via a 2X1 coupler 11. The inputted pulse is always outputted from an output of a delay line 10 of the optical switch 9 and outputted from an output port side for a time when a gate pulse Gp is fed to the optical switch 9, then the modulated optical pulse train is outputted at a speed of k/V.
