发明名称 COLOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To make a bright display with a superior display contract without any color omission by making the twist directions of a 1at and 2nd liquid crystal layer opposite to each other making the direction of the molecule long axes of those liquid crystal layers which contact a center substrate cross each other at right angles, and equalizing those liquid crystal layer in retardation. CONSTITUTION:When each liquid crystal layer is in a twist state, linear polarized light which is incident becomes elliptic polarized light in the 1st liquid crystal 10 and is made incident on the 2nd liquid crystal layer 11, but the 2nd liquid crystal layer 11 is twisted in the opposite direction from the 1st liquid crystal layer 10, so a component which deviates into the elliptic polarized light by the 1st liquid crystal layer 10 is corrected by the 2nd liquid crystal layer 11 to obtain linearly linear polarized light, thereby improving coloring in the absence of an electric field due to the elliptic polarized light. Further, the 1st and 2nd liquid crystal layers are equal in the product (retardation) DELTAn.d of the cell thickness (d) and refractive index anisotropy DELTAn and the long-axis directions of the liquid crystal molecules of the 1st and 2nd liquid crystal layers which contact the center substrate 2 cross each other at right angles, so coloring is further improved. Consequently, the display is bright and superior in display contrast, and a color omission can be eliminated.
