<p>PURPOSE:To uniformly harden shafts and the teeth of a gear as a whole by putting a gear to be treated into a high-frequency coil of specific shape heating both shaft parts and a gear part by means of induced current and carrying out hardening by means of high-frequency electrification at the time of subjecting a gear in which shafts are protruded toward both sides to high-frequency hardening. CONSTITUTION:As high-frequency induction heating coils using at the time of applying high-frequency hardening to a gear 300 with shafts in which shafts 302, 303 are protruded toward both sides of a gear 301, coils 11, 12 for heating the shaft 302 are electrically connected by means of a connecting conductor 15 and these coils 11, 12 are connected to semicircular coils 16, 17 for gear heating, respectively, and further, these coils 16, 17 are connected to coils 13, 14 for heating the other shaft 303, respectively, and connected to a high-frequency electric power source 30 via electric power source side conductor 18, 19 and lead wires 31, 32, respectively. While allowing a coolant to flow through respective hollow coils mentioned above from a coolant supply pipe 25 and discharging through a discharge pipe 26, a high-frequency electric current is allowed to flow through the above coils to carry out heating, followed by hardening by means of quenching. By this method, the gear 300 with shafts in which a hardened layer 304 is formed uniformly on both shafts 302, 303 and the bottom 308 of the gear 301 and also on the addendum 307 and tooth flank 309 of the gear 301 can be obtained.</p> |
