Gas analysis by radiation attenuation

A body of gas to be analysed by the loss in the gas ofenergy from an external radiation source (4,5) when received byan external detector (7) after passage through windows in thecontainer has the container (1) in spherical shape. To increasethe radiation path length the container interior has a mirroredinternal surface (9). The extent of such lengthening is varied bycontrolled and reproducible relative movement between containerand radiation source. These two elements may be mounted in acordon suspension (10), with stepping motors (12,13,14) providingmovement in a system of spatial axes.
