PURPOSE: To prevent an unpermitted user from accessing a diskette drive by holding at least one additional password in a non-volatile memory. CONSTITUTION: A microprocessor 1 is connected to a system bus 2, and this bus includes a group of data lines, a group of address lines, and a group or control lines. Plural I/O devices including an input means (for example, a keyboard 3) a display device 4, a printer 5, a random access memory 6, a read only memory 7, and storage mediums (for example a diskette drive 8 and a fixed disk 9) are connected to this bus 2 through adapters 10 to 16. The additional password is held in the non-volatile memory, and a system is booted in the mode preliminarily selected by user's input of this additional password. That is, the diskette drive booting device 8 or another device 9 is disabled by input of the additional password. Thus, safe access in many levels is realized. |
