<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently compress a color difference signal in a band narrower than a luminance signal by executing thinning-out processing for each prescribed sample in horizontal and vertical directions for each block before a compression processing and interpolating thinned-out data after an extension processing in respect to color difference signal data forming a digital color picture. CONSTITUTION:In respect to the color difference signal data forming the digital color picture, the thinning-out processing is executed for each prescribed sample in the horizontal and vertical directions for each block before the compression processing, and the thinned-out data in the horizontal and vertical directions are interpolated after the extension processing. Thus, the color difference signal in the band narrower than the luminance signal can be efficiently compressed and transmitted or recorded and compressibility can be improved.</p> |
