The optical measurement apparatus for a light conductor has a measurment device with a light conductor (3) connected to its input or output. The output or input is connected via an internal light conductor (6, 7) to a measurement source or receiver. The internal (6, 7) and external (3) light conductors have distinctly different field magnitudes. The internal conductor can be a step index fibre. For a single mode external fibre, the field diameter at each measurement input (5) or output (4) changes from a larger to a smaller value in the transmission direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - Sensitivity of measurement connections of arrangement to mismatching is minimised.
