In a method of forming coupling head portions (2, 2a, 2b) on a monofilament (1, 1a, 1b) of thermoplastic synthetic resin for production of a slide fastener coupling element (10, 17), the monofilament (1, 1a, 1b) is stamped from one side to form recessed small-thickness portions (2, 2a, 2b) bulging from the other side of the monofilament (1, 1a, 1b), and then the monofilament (1, 1a, 1b) is bent at opposite ends (3, 3) of each of the recessed small-thickness portions (2, 2a, 2b) in such a manner that the concave side of each small-thickness portion (2, 2a, 2b) faces outwardly. |
