The key cap is installed in an opening in the housing accommodating a keypad or keyboard. At least one spring element is directly moulded on the side to extend downwards at an acute angle, stopping at a supporting light conductor. The pin (5) of the cap penetrates a bore in the latter. The light conductor and pin send light to numbers and symbols formed from light-collecting plastics material. The key cap is formed in three layers. The main section (4) with the pin (5) is of pellucid plastics material. A relatively thin layer (11) with raised symbols is mounted on the latter. A transparent layer (12) with spring elements surrounds both the thin layer (11) and the main body (4).
