A potentiometer includes a housing, a housing lid, a resistance plate, a contact spring and a base member. The lid and the rotating member in the housing are made of plastic. The rotating member has two halves, one of which is made of plastic and formed onto the lid and/or the resistance plate. The second half of the rotating member is formed onto a base plate and is also made of plastic. Both halves are welded together.
