PURPOSE:To prevent corner cut of a plate caused at the end part, by arranging two level plates which interpose a number of parallel pins between a gas tube and an elastic body, and arranging a slider movable in the axial direction of a holder plate in accordance with the width of the plate to be worked between the lower side level plate and elastic body. CONSTITUTION:The vertical set position of a platen unit 4 is set at its height so that the lower face of a grinding belt 5 is apart less than its thickness (t) from the upper face of a plate. A level plate 43, parallel pins 44, etc., are lifted when the plate to be worked is fed to compress a gas tube 42. A uniform polishing quantity is obtained because of a grinding belt 5 being conformed by this floating to a large chamber even in case of there being an uneven part with a large camber on the plate to be worked. Namely corner cut of the right and left ends in the feeding direction of the plate to be worked is prevented since the cushioning property of the gas tube 42 is not applied to an elastic body 47 because of the level plate 43 and parallel pins 44 being forcibly pushed upward at the part where a slider exists. |
