The invention describes the semi-tardive sunflower (helianthus annuus L.)hybrid called Festiv, obtained from three consanguineous lines, according to the formula (LC- 1011 A x LC - 1001 B) x LC -1066 C; it is designed for culture in areas favourable to sunflower growth, especially south and western parts of the country.The Festiv hybrid has high production potential, high seed oil content, total resistance to downy mildew (Plasmopora heliannthi), increased field resistance to brown spot(Phomopsis sp.) and molds (Screlotinia sclerotiorum, Botrytis cinerea).The hybrid has a vegetation period of 126-128 days and a very good resistance to drought, sunburn , falling and dropping. Production capacity is very high, yielding an average of 4,500 -4,700 kg/ha, seed oil content more than 54%, shell rate of 20-22%, all of these factors contributing to oil production of more than 2,000 l/ha.As a trilinear hybrid, it has a very economic system of seed production, the quantity of seeds by surface unit in hybridization lots being 2-3 times higher than for simple hybrids.
