It comprises a frame made up of four sections (2) (3) (4) (5) covered with a fixed rigid metal mesh (6) and with a movable metal mesh (23) which is supported on two sections (17) sliding inside the longitudinal sections (2) and (3) of the fixed frame. Two supports (27) (28) each containing a rapid locking system (34), each of which vertically holds a prop stand (36), fit into the two sliding sections (17). The rapid locking systems (34) enable the height of the prop stands (36) to be adjusted to compensate for the height of up to three steps. The extended platform compensates for the width of four standard steps. By inserting a sliding section (11) inside a lateral section (5) of the frame, it becomes possible to extend the platform to the side. The rapid locking systems (34), in which the thrust face of the movable jaws (60) is inclined so as to match one of the inclined faces (48) of the prop stands (36), thereby preventing one component from sliding over the other, have safety measures which prevent any untimely unlocking of the systems. <IMAGE>
