This cathode-ray tube includes an electron gun comprising electrodes (2, 3, 4) producing electron beams and a main lens comprising a focusing electrode (11) containing an electron lens which alters the cross-section of the electron beam to give it a non-axisymmetric shape with increase of the degree of deviation of the beam by application of a voltage varying synchronously with the deviation, and an axisymmetric electron lens which decreases the power of the lens with the increase in the degree of deviation of the beam by application of a voltage which rises with the degree of deviation. Application in particular to television image tubes and to display devices. <IMAGE>
