This jack comprises a base clevis (2) which bears on the ground, a first member (7) articulated to the base clevis, a second member (8) articulated to the first member and, at its free end, carrying an upper clevis (10) which bears against a bearing surface of the vehicle, and an operating screw (11) with manual actuation which joins the two members together and controls their relative positions. In order to reduce the overall size in the state of rest, the first member (7) is articulated to the base clevis (2) by a moving coupling, comprising a pin (6) which runs in slots (5) made in the two cheeks of the base clevis. <IMAGE>
